A tray is both a practical helper and part of the table setting: use it to serve breakfast, tea or drinks, or to hold a sugar bowl and creamer, bread or desserts. This section brings together trays from renowned tableware and silverware makers: Christofle, Robbe & Berking, Sambonet, Bernardaud, Zieher, Barazzoni, Arte Italica and Tescoma.
Shapes and uses
- Round: for glasses, coffee cups and serving drinks to guests.
- Rectangular and square: hold more tableware and suit breakfast or serving starters.
- With handles: easy to carry when fully laid.
- Special-purpose: for bread, for a toast rack, or for a sugar bowl and creamer.
Collections
Metal trays from Christofle, Robbe & Berking, Sambonet and Zieher are a classic of formal table settings, including the Malmaison, Vertigo, Graffiti, Jardin d'Eden, Elite and Sphera collections. Porcelain trays from the French brand Bernardaud, decorated with patterns from the Vegetal, Louvre, Aux Oiseaux and other collections, work both for serving and as decorative trays for small items. Barazzoni offers trays from its MOON collection in sizes from 38 to 54 cm.
How to choose a tray
For serving drinks to a few guests, a round tray of about 40 cm is convenient; for breakfast or starters, choose a rectangular tray with handles. Small porcelain trays are ideal for jewellery, keys or candles.
